Douglas W. Runte is a Managing Director at Piper Jaffray, where he focuses on the transportation sector, including airline debt and aircraft-backed securities such as EETCs (Enhanced Equipment Trust Certificates). In his role at Piper Jaffray, Doug interacts with traders, analysts and institutional investors, providing investment recommendations along with company, industry and aircraft analysis. Doug has consistently been rated among the top analysts by Institutional Investor magazine in its survey of major institutional investors, including frequent #1 rankings in the transportation sector.
Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, Doug worked at other leading financial firms, including RBS Greenwich Capital and Morgan Stanley. In addition to his work on Wall Street, for three years Doug worked for the International Youth Hostel Federation and other non-profit groups, leading bicycle tours in the US and managing youth hostels, teaching English and traveling in the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Doug graduated magna cum laude with departmental distinction from Duke University with a BA in Art History. He received his MBA degree from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University with a concentration in finance. Doug is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder, as well as a New York Stock Exchange Supervisory Analyst (Series 16) and a General Securities Principal (Series 24). Doug also possesses Series 7, Series 63 and Series 87 securities licenses. Doug is a member of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT), the New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA) and the Wings Club.
